A very colorful, tropical shrub, grown for its attractive reddish leaves. A beautiful foliage with mixed shades of red, yellow, and green. The leaves get a greater color with increased exposure. This plant is very fast growing. This is one of the most striking foliage shrubs and is widely used by tropical gardeners. A. wilkesiana, can grow as tall as 7ft, and are found in a wide variety of colors: green and white, green and yellow, red, bronze, copper, or brown. The leaves also vary in form, some being flat and others undulating, while the flowers are inconspicuous. In a garden, they are often used as informal hedges or in massed beds, all Acalypha species require careful pruning to prevent them from becoming leggy.

Acanthocereus tetragonus is a tall, columnar cactus that reaches a height of 27 m (6.623.0 ft). Flowers are open from midnight until dawn, attracting hummingbird moths.

Acanthocereus tetragonus 'Fairy Castles' is a dwarf, columnar, branching, slow growing cactus. The Fairy Castles Cactus is the colorful name by which the plant is marketed and refers to the numerous vertical stems of different heights that resemble spires and turrets.

The Lilly Pilly is fairly hardy and needs only a subtropical climate to flourish. Protection should be given from long or hard freezes. Plants enjoy profuse amounts of water, but will grow in drier areas. They grow best in areas of light sun or shade. Flowers are small and fluffy, with a creamy, white color. Flowering is generally Spring, and is followed by large bunches of the fruit which ripen a couple of months later.

This shrub is one of three members of the genus, Acokanthera. It belongs to the same family as many popular subtropical ornamental plants such as frangipani, allamanda and oleander, as well as the impala lily and num-num. This family is characterized by having sweetly scented flowers and sticky, milky sap which is very poisonous. The Bushman's poison is a hardy drought. It's a frost resistant, evergreen shrub that tolerates full sun but prefers shade, it also does well as a container plant.
